Searching
It has been a while since I have posted. I have been searching for a job. I had a consulting assignment at UPS but that ended in July and I went back the first week of September to perform some maintenance. I liked things better the second time I was there. I did not feel nearly as pressured to match any of the previous numbers as they have finally agreed that was nearly impossible without the regional office telling me how they got the regional numbers.
This week UCF is hosting a job fair. I’m hoping to make some good contacts there as several larger companies should be present. Tomorrow I should be attending several workshops about how to work a job fair and resume preparation. Hopefully, I will be ready to hit the ground running at the job fair the following day.
I’m also looking at companies that are located outside my home area. I’m a little hesitant with this notion because I would have to make new friends when I move and I’m a generally shy person. I also have not visited very many cities. I’ve been to Atlanta for a week after Christmas and have determined I could live there. I just don’t know where else I would enjoy living.
Then you should move to Columbia!
Ok…well maybe you won’t be able to find a job here, but at least we could go Geocaching again…and I would be much more inspired to go out and buy the mountain bike I’ve been telling you I was going to get. I could always ask the wife how much the rent is in the spare bedroom if you want to move up here to look.
Then, when you DO find a job here we could conspire up some plans to start our own company, take over the world, and open the first “Rita’s Italian Ice” franchise in South Carolina.
That is a very tempting offer as I have some ideas for some web based applications but I really need the help of a graphic designer with web and css experience. You’d be perfect for the job. We could run two businesses and take over the world.
Umm… while you guys are busy trying to take over the world, is anyone planning to consult me about this? I guess technically the savings in rent would pay for the mountain bike.. in theory. And it would eliminate the making friends problem for both of you…. and I would like to have Rita’s whenever I want.. ok.. i approve.

I didn’t know I had a making friends problem. Just a making special friends problem.
I’m trying to figure out how to solve the Rita’s problem, when I have a plan I’ll let you know. Currently, the plan involves a bank with a lot of money to give me. As for taking over the world plans, we need to keep those quiet for now.
I don’t want to scare any future employers.
My you are ambitious, taking over the world and all….. I’d just like to hear about landing the new job and adding to the special friends list!
