Moving
I'm packing up the circus and moving it to a new place. I'll have a new-ish roommate and an office. I've been busy working and packing. After I move I'll consider posting my reflections on the MS.net environment.

Orlando Sentinel Story
The article of the day was actually from yesterday's news so deal with it. This article caught my attention b/c I'm moving to an apartment near Avalon Park. You'd think I'd be glad they are putting a road through that will connect the Beeline and Avalon Parkway, but I'm not sure what to think. In reality what will is that the county will put the road in, and immediately following the surrounding area will turn to concrete. There will be several more developments where all the houses are the same, and when you're on the can you could ask your neighbor for TP if you run out. Before you know it all of Florida is going to be one giant rock. There will be several new extinct species and because we covered all the land, we'll be pumping the ocean dry for drinking water.
Ok, I'll admit that's a little extreme, but do we really need to this road expansion, do we really need a second research park, why not redesign the old one to add more capacity, certainly some of those buildings can be demolished for a high rise type building and parking garages can be put in for everyone's cars. I don't see why everything UCF builds seems to be under 6 stories tall. Why do we need more communities, why not build high rise condos, they would give people the sense ownership they desire but conserve green space because condos can be built up instead of out.
Furthermore, if communities were more concentrated public transit could be enhanced such that not everyone would need a car to complete day to day tasks. There could be reasonable train and bus routes people could use in-place of their SUV's.
UCF seems to be spearheading a new project to promote bicycling in the UCF corridor. (http://www.ehs.ucf.edu/EMS/bikepath/Main%20Page.htm) I find the bike path idea to be a very good idea and would like to see it become a reality in the near future.

The above story has found it's way here b/c it illustrates something that has been sort of bugging me lately. Here in the US people used to take a stand for what they believed in. It seems that over the years, those who take a stand or try to make a statement are quickly shot down as being extremist(s). Wasn't an extremist who took her seat on a bus and refused to give it up to the white men. Wasn't it an extremist who had a dream? Both Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. stood up for what they believed in and inspired others to do like wise. Because of that we have forever changed the American perspective regarding color. I'm not saying racism has been eliminated, I think it still goes on everyday, but if a few people didn't stand up for their beliefs and start a movement, our country would not have granted the civil rights known today, and we would not be talking about racism as though it were a thing of the past (even though it has not been totally eliminated).
I personally think we need to call for an end to political correctness, and call it like we see it.
I've posted before that I'm not a huge fan of either political party, and I'll still stand by that. Unfortunately both party's platforms have taken a stand which I would disagree with on certain issues. I also feel that the current to party system is ineffective in changing things for the better, mainly do the the lack of activism by the people. Instead we allow lobbyist with their own agendas to be the voice of the people, we have given our vote to the highest bidder, and quite frankly, that sucks.
Granted I don't know everything about how the world operates (politically), I think we the people need to speak out and make our voices heard lest we allow our land to be ruled by the voice with the most money.
Ok, enough complaining about apathy in our society…
In my quest to find something interesting to post almost daily, I came across the Google Zeitgeist at: http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html. The Zeitgeist is basically a listing of top searches from around the world. From this I found that in Australia there seems to be a somewhat popular TV show called My Restaurant Rules (www.myrestaurantrules.com.au/).
